I realize its April and I’m finally writing my “What’s Happening” post but to be fair, there’s not a whole lotta photoshoots happening Jan-March. The biggest news is that I got a new camera in January! 2017 was the best year every for AGP and I told myself last year if I hit certain goals that I could afford to upgrade. Woohoo! I got a Nikon d750, it’s not the latest and greatest but it is a hard-working camera that produces beautiful photographs. My d7000 is not retired, I’ll be bringing it along as a backup and to do a bit of video when I can. I still love that camera but I really wanted the full frame sensor and more megapixels!
Wholly heck you guys, I was blown away in January with the Senior Squad Applications for the Class of 2019. I got more applications than I have ever gotten and was so excited to have 8 amazing girls sign on to be a part of this!
If you don’t know what the Senior Squad is, well let me tell you! Senior Squad is for high school Juniors Because they signed up to get senior pictures with me early, they get some amazing perks! Extra photoshoots, the option to earn referral $$, participate in community service projects and really get to know some girls they would have probably never met otherwise. At our Welcome Party in February it was so great to get to know each of them a little better and realize that they all had so much in common! These girls are involved in choir, theater, softball and girl scouts, just to name a few of their activities. (Have I said I think they are awesome a few times? Cause they are!) Not all of them could attend that day but here’s a lil video from our Welcome Party.
I haven’t fully ruled out Spring Family Mini Sessions or Personal Branding Mini Sessions this season. I’m just focused on getting the Senior Squad Styled Shoots all set up. Plus the Class of 2018 has Cap & Gown Mini Sessions coming up in May! If there is enough interest in them I will set up a date. You can get on the lists by clicking HERE <= for Family Minis and HERE <= for Personal Branding Minis.
FAMILY PORTRAIT SESSIONS
If you know you want an updated family portrait this spring I would love to be your photographer! I’m doing family sessions year round and late April/early May is a beautiful time of year with the blooming trees, rhodies and flowers popping up everywhere! Check out my Family Portrait Session page for more details on the whole experience. (This would make a wonderful Mother’s Day present.)
If you are a Junior in high school, now is the time to find your photographer. Senior pictures are taken the summer BEFORE your senior year. Know why? Because your yearbook deadline can be between the end of September through December. It depends on your school but most are due within this time frame. Once you are back in school, it can be harder to schedule if you are busy. Not to mention the liquid sunshine we have in the Fall. If you wait to book you are risking that the photographer you want will be booked. (Just saying, August is almost fully booked for me, eek!) I always encourage people to look around and do your research.
Photographers all offer different things, different levels of service, different products, different styles and different levels of proficiency. (No shade, but seriously check out peoples work because with photography, you generally get what you pay for.)
CHARITY AND FUNDRAISING
Last year was the first year AGP was involved with raising money for Lines for Life with a fundraising photoshoot called #PROJECTBEAUTY and the Senior Squad did a shift at the Oregon Food Bank to fill boxes. In 2018 AGP is committed to do both of these again and I’m hoping to help our schools with fundraising. If your school or school organization is doing a silent auction please email me at email@example.com. I have a few options for donation that have helped raise anywhere from $150-$400 over the past few months. I love that my passion for photography can help, raise money within our community.
So what are you hoping to capture in 2018? Do you need to update your headshots? Has it been a few years since you had a beautiful family portrait? Are your littles suddenly not so little? I’d love to know what you want to capture this year! Email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
