This past weekend was a busy one! The AGP Parent meetings for Senior Squad applicants were held on Saturday and Sunday. Last year for my rep team I met everyone individually at a local coffee shop. But I only had 6 applicants so that didn’t take a ton of time. This year I had 22 applications! OMG people! OMG! So I decided to have one big meeting weekend. It was a huge weekend of learning for me and I’m so glad I pushed myself to have these larger meetings.
Now I’m no public speaker, in fact I’m a HUGE introvert so to speak in front of people usually makes me want to curl up in a tiny ball but I was actually excited for these meetings! I couldn’t wait to meet the girls and their parents and hope that they were as excited about Senior Squad as I was! But Saturday was rough, the location wasn’t ideal, it was dumping rain and I had about 5 trips from my car to the room in Beaverton Library, which was like a block away, and I’m sure I looked like a drowned rat! As a mom of a 7 month old, if I get to do my hair OR makeup in a day its amazing and for once I’d done both! Stupid rain! The room was huge, had to have been 30 ft ceilings and if you’ve ever met me in person you know I don’t have a loud voice. It’s something I’ve always struggled with. I’m quiet and my normal tone wasn’t enough for this massive room. It was totally not set up how I envisioned it because they wouldn’t let me prep the room in advance…the chairs were all spread out, the tables set up oddly…not ideal. I will admit feeling deflated after that meeting. It just didn’t meet the expectations I had set for myself.
So Sunday I was a little more prepared and a much different venue. Symposium Coffee in Tigard has a lil meeting room you can reserve for up to 15 people. It was PERFECT! They let me in 15 minutes early so I could set up, they made hot cocoa for everyone that attended. The ceiling was a normal height. I felt way more relaxed. I still turned beet red and I’m sure talked way too fast but it was more of what I pictured for these meetings. I was able to pass around my studio samples, everyone had great questions. I came away feeling energized and so freaking excited for the Class of 2017 Senior Squad this year!
Still a few girls and their parents that had prior commitments and couldn’t make it this weekend so hopefully we’ll meet up this week but I’m loving the girls that have already signed up to be part of this team! I’ll make the big announcement of who’s on AGP Senior Squad next week once all the contracts have come in! Yay! Can’t wait!
Oh and I also remembered to snapchat a lil bts video on Sunday! Woohoo! If you’re on there I’d love for you to follow me and I’ll follow you back. I’m totally getting into it! My username is agportraits or you can use my snapcode.
