This week’s portrait location review is for Dawson Creek in Hillsboro. It is also part of the Brookwood Parkway Trail. I love this location! It’s got some great features for a senior portrait and very accessible.
I will confess I’ve been here before. About 3 years ago I did 2 senior portraits at this location. One gal went to Glencoe High School, the other Aloha High School. I fell in love with this location instantly! There’s a tunnel, several lakes, cool bridges, a dry creek bed and lots of trees. And did I mention the light? Fab light at sunset!
The tunnel is my favorite and if we do your senior portraits here expect a good chuck of images to be with this backdrop. The reflected bounce of light is just so flattering. When I visited a week ago the chalk graffiti had kinda taken over so we’d wanna clear a spot and write something like Class of 2017. I always bring chalk to this location so we can get creative!
We’d wanna follow the paved path around the lake and head to the bridge at the far end. There’s a dry creek bed and we can get down beside the bridge for some unique poses. When we walk a bit further down Brookwood Parkway Trail we’ll find a secluded field and a forested area. This place has so much variety to offer!
When I was scouting all the dandelions were in bloom creating fields of yellow. So beautiful!
For a senior portrait session I like to get a variety of backdrops. Even when you want that nature feel for your images we can play with wood bridges, trees, tall grass, short grass, wildflowers and so much more so that your images have real depth. The only downside to this location is its popularity. I know a lot of seniors use this location so if you want something unique this might not be the place for you. Then again, the features are pretty awesome!
