A little over a week ago I traveled to Eugene, Oregon to take college grad portraits for Akiva & Jessica. I’d been to the U of O once before, my husband graduated from there and while we were dating he showed me around campus. The campus is gorgeous and reminds me of Linfield, where I went to school but so much bigger! I just loved the areas we found to stop and take pictures!
Jessica is drop dead gorgeous. I mean….seriously! Jessica has to be 6ft tall and with the 4in wedges she had on…wow. I was so glad I brought my lil step ladder to get eye level with her! We started out walking around campus and were cutting through an area and I saw the light here and had to stop. It was a hot day, no cloud cover so we lucked into this perfect spot between two buildings. I just loved the foliage and that twisty tree on the left. As Jessica was posing she looked up and there was a baby owl in the tree. So cute! He was happy to sit there and watch the proceedings.
Akiva is the daughter of my best friend. She was my very first senior 4 years ago so I was very excited to get her in front of my camera again. She is a natural! There were some beautiful rhododendrons, varied trees and did I mention the light? It was perfect! Akiva is just beaming!
We walked to another spot and took some portraits on the steps of Johnson Hall. Such a cool building!
And then we moved over in front of this giant O. Both girls really wanted this shot. They’d seen pictures on pinterest of it so we tried our best to do our own interpretation.
Speaking of pinterest, they had tons of ideas from there….who knew college grad portraits were such a huge thing that there were ideas for poses and backgrounds on pinterest! If you’d like you can pin my images from this blog post, or anywhere on my site by hovering over the image and clicking. How cool is that? You can help future college grads find some inspiration!
Our last stop of the day was in front of the University of Oregon sign for some fun. I gotta say this shot was the one that made me the most nervous. If the timing isn’t right on an action shot you can get nothing but blur. But I’m so happy these turned out so well! The girls were soaked with rose champagne but totally worth it for the shot!
Such a blast! I’d love to do more college portraits so if you’re graduating soon and want some beautiful cap and gown pictures to commemorate this huge achievement shoot me an email!
